Prompt: They just learn that their S/O reader came from a wealthy family despite having dated them for a really long time.

- At first, he thinks it’s a joke until he sees your expressions. “Wait…you mean, like actually rich?” He laughs nervously while fidgeting with his sleeve.
- It takes a little while for it to sink in, but when Sinju finally registers it, his smile fades. His mind spirals fast. ‘So all this time… they could’ve had everything. Why’d they choose someone like me?’
- He starts second-guessing every date, meal you split, and gift you shared. “You never…looked down on me, right?” he quietly asks you.
- Sinju’s not angry, just hurt that you didn’t tell him earlier. He takes a day or two to calm down and process everything. “I don’t care how much money you have. I just…wish you had told me earlier.”
- Deep down, he still can’t stop wondering what you saw in him. He returns to behaving like his normal self, but Sinju has moments where he feels the need to work so hard that he burns out. He has to find a way to prove to you that he’s worthy, even if you tell him he doesn’t need to.
- He is in shock. “Huh? Seriously?! You mean like big house, designer clothes, servants type rich??”
- He’s half-offended, half-confused. “And you made me think you’re broke like me? You could’ve just told me.”
- But later, when Mizuki’s alone, it hits him harder than he expected. He remembers stealing food to survive, and now he’s dating someone who never had to worry about a meal. Did you pity him, or were you toying with him? The thought brings tears to his eyes.
- Mizuki doesn’t resent you, but he suddenly feels small. “Man…they really could’ve been with someone better.”
- He tries to act normal around you, but he has a hard time. You sometimes find him lost in thought. He grips your hand like he’s afraid to lose you or himself. He hesitates to give you gifts because his cheap gifts might not be good enough.
- Depending on how you handle the situation, it will take him a long time to recover, or he might not be able to recover and continue spiraling mentally.
- “Wait. Wait, wait, wait. You’re rich?! You can spend money on all gatchas all the time, kind of rich?!” His brain freezes.
- It takes him a full minute to process the info. How did someone of your level choose an awkward, nerdy gamer-type like him?
- “You mean all those times I complained about not having gatcha funds, you could’ve just…?! Wait, no. Sorry. Wait! All those gifts I got during the versus and ranking events, don’t tell me you spent thousands? Then that time I got a box of snacks, was that you?”
- Taiga’s spiraling. If you two were in an anime, his eyes would be replaced with spirals, and he would be staggering back and forth, completely disoriented.
- But when you tell him you didn’t want to be treated differently, he does his best to calm down. “You didn’t have to hide it, you know. I don’t care about that stuff.”
- He says that, but inside, he feels a tiny pang of insecurity. ‘They’ve seen a world I can’t even imagine. What if one day they get tired of me or think I’m worthless?’
- He won’t say his thoughts out loud, but he starts working harder. Taiga doesn’t want to prove his worth to you because he figured you chose him for a reason, but he wants to prove his worth to himself.
