Summoning
Prompt: How would the demons react to being summoned by a nerdy adult MC, who didn’t expect to work, but when it did they immediately start fanning over them- (….) this happens before the exchange program, maybe a year or two before.
Gender: gn!Reader
A/N: I made slight modifications to the request to prevent the scenarios from sounding the same.
Prologue:
You took a deep breath and exhaled loudly, “Okay, this is most likely not going to work, but let’s see what happens.”
Before you proceeded, you scanned your bed and made sure all the gifts were in place. “Gifts, check. Summon circle, check. Summoning chant, check. Well, here goes nothing.”
You began the summoning process by carefully reading from the white paper in your hand. Right after you said the last word, the circle began to glow brightly, forcing your eyes shut. When you opened them, your eyes landed on him, and for a moment, all you could do was stare in awe.
“Why have you summoned me?” He asked in a cold voice with his arms crossed.
“I didn’t think it would work, but you…really are here!” You replied not being able to contain your excitement.
“Oh, these are for you,” you said while handed him red handmade candles with black designs, forgetting to answer his question. “I wasn’t sure what you liked, so um, I made these for you.”
Lucifer accepted your gift, assuming you wanted something from him, but when he learned you only wanted to be his friend, Lucifer was speechless. “If I understand correctly…you, a human, wish to befriend me, a demon?”
You nodded, “I want to learn more about you and the world you are from. Will you tell me? Please?”
He still didn’t believe that you simply wished to befriend him, but since you summoned him and gave him an unusual offering, he couldn’t say no to you. From then on, the Avatar of Pride visited you often, be it to talk or to see what unusual gift you were going to give to him.
The day you were teleported to Devildom, you ran to Lucifer without hesitation and jumped into his arms. All the demons in the room turned pale, thinking you were a goner, but instead of getting angry, Lucifer returned your hug. “Welcome to Devildom.”
He watched you run around the room with a somewhat gentle smile. Though he seemed content with your presence, his brothers were afraid of you. Only one thought ran through their mind, what sorcery did you use to get Lucifer to be nice to you and hug you back?
“Why have you summoned Mammon the Great?” He asked, putting extra emphasis on ‘the great’.
“Ah, your wings, they’re so pretty. Oh, your horns have a nice luster to them.”
Mammon watched you circling him in confusion, not expecting you to get so close to him.
“Not to mention, you’re…really cute,” you whispered, hoping he would hear you.
“C-Cute?” The Avatar of Greed averted his eyes and blushed, “Wait, what are you talking about? I’m not cute! I’m a demon. Now, why have you bothered me? You better have a good reason.”
“Oh, I wanted to be your friend. So, tell me Mammon the Great, would you be my friend?” You grinned ear-to-ear and pressed your palms together. “Please?”
“W-Why should I be your friend? I have no reason to be your friend.” He didn’t sound convincing at all and still avoided looking at you.
“I have gifts for you! I promise to give you gifts every time you visit.”
Your words were enough to make him grin. “Fine, but only for the gifts. Let’s hope they’re worth something.”
Initially, he only came for the gifts, but Mammon slowly grew attached to you. Attached to the point where he couldn’t bring himself to sell your gifts anymore, and even got back the presents he sold.
The day you appeared in Devildom, Mammon was waiting for you and immediately pulled you into a hug. It was obvious to everyone that you meant more to Mammon than he let on. Just as you started to run around the room looking at all the demons, the Avatar of Greed pulled you into his arms and mumbled, “You are not going to pay attention to the others. Your attention is only for me.”
“H-Huh? W-What is t-this place?” Levi asked, looking around your room and then at you. “W-Why did you summon me?”
“Oh, I…didn’t think it would work, but I’m glad it did! Hi, my name is (y/n). Would you like to be my friend?” You flashed an ear-to-ear smile.
“Y-You w-want to be my fr-friend?” He was not expecting to get summoned in the first place, and on top of that, you wanted to be his friend? This was too much for the otaku to handle.
“A-Are you okay? Would you like some water? Oh wait, do demons drink water? How about food? Do you need to lie down?”
As you panicked and questioned him, Levi stared at you, taken aback. Why would a human care so much about him? They don’t even know him…normies are not supposed to be like this, right?
“Um…would you please come to visit me? I promise to give you gifts. Oh, speaking of gifts, here,” You handed him a drawing book, “I know this is not much, but I hope you like my drawings.”
Levi hesitantly accepted the gift and mumbled, “I will t-think about it…I don’t want to be friends with a normie…”
Though he said he didn’t want to be friends with you, he visited you quite a bit. Slowly, the two of you became friends, and he even shared his anime and games with you.
When you arrived in Devildom as an exchange student, you squealed Levi’s name before embracing him. All the brothers were in shock, but they were even more stunned when you fearlessly ran to each one of them and examined their horns, wings, tails. Though they didn’t say it out loud, they were happy to see that Levi finally made a friend – a bubbly, outgoing friend.
“Why have you summoned me?” Satan inquired in a menacing voice with the intent to test your courage.
“O-Oh, I…I want to be friends with you,” you nervously admitted. “Mr. Satan, would you be my friend?”
“Did…you just call me Mr. Satan?” He started laughing, “Satan is fine.”
“O-Okay then, Satan, wow, your tail is so cool as are your horns.”
As you fanned over him, the Avatar of Wrath watched you with amusement. He admired your courage and honesty, so once you calmed down, he agreed to be your friend. What surprised him the most was your genuinely innocent intentions; Satan had met many humans and knew what they were like, so when you said you wanted to be his friend, he expected you to use him in one way or another. This alone drew him towards you.
When you arrived in Devildom, you immediately ran to Satan and threw your arms around him, sending all the other demons in a panic. Diavolo, Beel, and Lucifer were prepared for the Avatar of Wrath to unleash his anger, but their worries were for naught. Satan simply returned your hug and welcomed you to his home.
“Satan, are you feeling alright?” Asmo asked concerned about his brother’s calm reaction.
“I have never been better,” he replied as his eyes followed you around the room. “I am looking forward to this year…”
Asmo chuckled and rested his chin on his brother’s shoulder, “Why do I smell love in the air?”
“Well, hello there~.” Asmo smiled sweetly and waved, “My name is Asmo. Have you summoned me here to have a little fun?”
“Fun? Yes, I would like to be your friend, if that’s alright with you.” You replied innocently, not understanding the meaning behind his words. “Wow, you’re so beautiful! Look at your pretty horns and wings.”
“F-Friend? Ah, I see…you’re using a code word. Yes, we can be friends,” he chuckled, stepping close to you. “Thank you for the compliments. You’re pretty cute yourself.”
“Oh, as an offering, I made these earrings for you,” you beamed, showing him the jewelry.
“Sweetie, these are gorgeous, but why would you give me this offering,” Asmo paused and thought for a bit before laughing. “I see, so you really do want to be friends.”
“Yes…what did you think I meant?” You blinked rapidly and leaned your head to one side.
“Nothing,” he playfully replied. “Then, from now on, we are friends. Call me whenever you like! I will be happy to spend time with you, sweetie.”
Asmo was surprised to be summoned for the sake of friendship. In all the years he has been a demon, this was the first time someone called upon him for a different reason. You were like a breath of fresh air for him, and though he wished to get close to you, Asmo knew in time you would let him. Your feelings were like an open book to the Avatar of Lust, but he chose to remain quiet and wait patiently for you to realize your feelings for him.
When you came to Devildom, Asmo embraced you close to him and welcomed you happily. He introduced you to everyone and fanned with you about how amazing they all looked. Meanwhile, almost all the demons only had one thought: ‘great, we have two Asmos now…’
When Beel saw you, he smiled and was about to ask who you were and why you summoned him, but his nose got distracted by an alluring sweet scent. “Food?”
You tilted your head and repeated his word, “Food? Oh, the cookies? I baked them for you and-”
“They’re for me?” He grinned and instantly began to chomp on the treats.
You watched him with a satisfied smile and waited for him to finish eating. “So, would you like to be my friend? I…am interested in learning about you and your world.”
“Only if you promise to feed me when I come to visit.” Beel said with a wide smile and extended his hand towards you, “Friends?”
After that day, he came to visit you on a nearly daily basis and shared all sorts of stories about Devildom, his family, the food, and patiently answered all your questions. In no time, Beel had grown attached to you, and the more you fed him, the more he liked you.
So, the day you arrived in Devildom, the Avatar of Gluttony waited for you with open arms. He introduced you to everyone and happily watched you running demon-to-demon.
“Beel, who exactly is this person?” Lucifer questioned in a whisper.
“My future spouse,” he casually replied.
“Why did you summon me here?” He yawned and stretched his exhausted body.
“You…you have horns, and a…your tail is so fluffy!” You squealed, running to him and examining his demon appendages.
“What are you doing?” He asked, watching you blankly. “Answer my question first.”
“Oh, I…,” you explained everything in detail before handing him a neatly folded scarf, “I made this gift for you.”
“You want to be friends with me? And why would I want to be friends with a human? No, thanks.” Belphie shook his head and left without saying a word.
Though you were in shock, you were determined to become his friend, so you summoned him over and over, offering him different gifts. The Avatar of Sloth found you intolerable in the beginning but seeing your persistence and excitement, he slowly grew used to you. You put in a lot of effort to become his friend, but in the end, it was all worth it as Belphie not only became your friend but also became your nap buddy.
The day you reached Devildom, you jumped hugged Belphie, forcing him awake. Lucifer was prepared to stop his youngest brother from attacking you, but to his utter shock, Belphie happily returned your hug. He even watched you while chuckling as you went around the room, fawning over all the demons. The Avatar of Sloth couldn’t tell you how glad he was to have you in Devildom. He finally understood why Lilith choose to be with a human – love has nothing to do with race but has everything to do with how the person makes your heart feel.
“I…got summoned by a human?” He mumbled to himself and sighed quietly.
“You…you really are…the d-devil? But you’re so handsome…,” you spoke without thinking once but quickly covered your mouth when you realized what you said.
Diavolo stared at you for a moment before laughing wholeheartedly. “Were you expecting someone scary?”
He watched you nod as your cheeks turned red. The prince smiled and folded his arms, “Well since I’m already here…what can I help you with?”
“I was wondering if you would like to be my friend.”
Diavolo tilted his head to one side and asked you to repeat your words as he thought he misheard you. “You…want to be my friend? That’s new. Let me ask you, are you not afraid of me?”
You nodded and honestly replied, “I am, but I still would like to be your friend. There are so many things I want to learn about you and your world. Oh, I have also prepared a gift for you.”
He graciously accepted the jewelry you made for him and examined it carefully. “This is beautiful. Then I accept your offer and will be your friend, but in exchange, I also want to learn about your world.”
From then on, he visited you whenever he could. The prince sometimes dropped his work to spend time with you, much to Barbatos’s dismay. So, the day you came to Devildom, the butler was prepared to lecture you, but when he saw you and Diavolo embracing, Barb got the hint that there was something more going on between the two of you.
The prince even took the liberty of introducing you to everyone in the room and giving you time to gush over the other demons. While you spoke to the brothers, Barbatos teasingly asked, “My lord, should I get acquainted with your new friend? I have a feeling I will be seeing them a lot.”
Diavolo smiled and nodded, “I brought them here for a good reason.”
You cautiously took a step closer and extended a hand to touch his horns but pulled back at the last minute, “C-Can I?”
Barbatos was amused by the fact that you weren’t afraid of him and had the courage to approach him. Solely for that reason he nodded. The butler watched you with a serene smile as you examined his horns and tail. “Tell me, for what reason did you summon me?”
“I was hoping to befriend a demon and get to know more about them.”
Your honest reply stunned the butler, especially since he was expecting you to give a selfish reason. “You would like to be my friend?”
“Yes! If that’s alright with you. Oh, I wasn’t sure what you like, so I made you a necklace,” you shyly handed him the gift. “I know demons like offerings, so I hope this is sufficient. I promise to give you a gift every time you visit me, so will you please stop by?”
Barbatos chuckled at your innocence, “It would be difficult for me to refuse such a kind offer.”
From then on, he came to visit you once a week, then every few days, and after he got to know you, the demon came to visit as often as he could. He even cooked for you and helped you around your home as an excuse to spend more time with you. Never once did Barbatos think that a human would affect him the way you did, so when the day came to bring a human to Devildom for the exchange program, he recommended your name.
When you reached Devildom, you couldn’t control your excitement, and immediately asked about Barbatos, much to everyone’s surprise. Though what they never expected was for you to run and embrace Barbatos.
“There are so many demons, here! Oh, look at the horns, wings, and tail!”
As you ran around demon to demon, examining their unique forms, Diavolo smiled at Barbatos, “I never expected such you to suggest such a lively human. This year will be much more fun than I anticipated.”
