- As Kei is heading to Starless, he hears a child calling out to her father.
- He doesn’t pay heed until he hears a loud thud followed by sobs.
- Feeling sympathy for her, Kei approaches her and attends to her injured knee.
- When she calls him dad, Kei says in a gentle voice, “Child, I am not your father.”
- “Papa, why did you leave us? Do you not love us anymore?”
- Kei is taken aback by her questions and once again explains to her that he is not related to her.
- “I am sorry, papa. I promise not to cause any trouble; I will do my homework, sleep on time, eat my vegetables, and not ask for any gifts. So, please come back to us.”
- Seeing the girl’s pained expression, Kei averts his eyes.
- Before either of them can say anything, a frantic woman rushes towards them. “My dear! How many times have I told you not to run away?”
- The mother apologizes to Kei before dragging the child away.
- The girl looks back at Kei with tears in her eyes and reaches her hand out to him, leaving him in shock.
- Sotetsu doesn’t find the situation amusing, considering what happened last time with the male child.
- He is cautious and doesn’t get too nosy this time around.
- Sotetsu asks about her guardian, but the girl doesn’t answer; instead, she takes out a piece of chocolate from her pocket and hands it to him.
- “This is my favorite chocolate, and I don’t share it with anyone. But, I want papa to have it because I love him lots.”
- Sotetsu kneels and takes the piece of chocolate as she continues talking, “I hope that you come back to mom and me one day. I miss papa and will wait for him.”
- The girl throws her arms around his neck and pecks his cheek before running back in the direction she came from.
- Sotetsu stares at the chocolate in his hand and mumbles, “I hope your dad does come back to you one day.”
- Great, another kid calling him dad.
- Kokuyou wants to walk away, but he can’t bring himself to leave after seeing her large innocent eyes and sweet smile.
- He kneels in front of her to ask her about her parents, but to his surprise, she hugs him. Sighing, he picks up the child and questions her once again about her guardian.
- She leads him to an old woman shopping nearby.
- Kokuyou tells the elderly lady to watch over the child, but as he leaves, the woman apologizes.
- “Sorry, dear. This child is an orphan. She is determined to find her father.”
- A strange feeling develops within him. The feeling annoys him, but Kokuyou can’t ignore it.
- He sees the child looking longingly at a large teddy bear and sighs once again. Kokuyou purchases the teddy bear and pushes the large plush into her arms.
- While the girl is happily examining her new gift, he quietly and quickly leaves.
- Even from a distance, Kokyou can hear the child crying out for him.
- “Papa? Where did you go? Please come back.”
- Even though her cries tug on his heartstrings, Kokuyou continues to walk away without stopping once.
- Sin can’t understand how children would mistake him for their father.
- He recalls what happened the last time and isn’t sure what to do; Sin doesn’t want to frighten her.
- He gets on her eye level and gently asks if she’s lost. To his surprise, the child doesn’t run away; instead, she takes his hand and asks him to follow her.
- The child takes him to a pond and says, “I know papa and mama don’t get along, but I miss papa.”
- She flashes a bright smile, “This is my favorite place. If you want to meet me, I will be here. I will be waiting for you! Oh, and I won’t tell mama.”
- She gives him a quick hug before leaving.
- For the first time, Sin is speechless.
- Kongou doesn’t understand why kids keep thinking he is their dad. He has reached the point where if he sees a child, he immediately wants to run away.
- Unlike last time, he doesn’t start panicking; instead, he helps the child look for her guardian.
- Even after looking for a while, he can’t find her parent.
- Out of nowhere, the girl starts crying, causing Kongou to panic. He tries his best to calm her down and even ends up buying her dessert.
- After finishing her ice-cream, she takes his hand and brings him to different shops. “Papa, I like this and this and this. Oh, and that!”
- By the time her mother finds them, Kongou’s wallet is emptied out.
- “Did my daughter…? I am so sorry!” The mother profusely apologizes to him and offers to pay for the items.
- “It’s alright. I couldn’t say no to your daughter. Please accept them as gifts.”
- Before he heads to Starless, Kongou withdraws money from his bank. He knows some of his team members are going to take his wallet as usual, and he doesn’t want them to walk away empty-handed.
