Child MC 6: MC Thinks Diav is Her Dad (3)

Prompt: If Barbatos and Lucifer wanted to sever the bond effectively why not bring MC’s mother to Devildom? I mean she would be able to recognize her husband? Imagine her shock seeing Diavolo at first thinking he was her husband, but realizing sadly he wasn’t!

Gender: fem!child!Reader

A/N: Platonic.

I can think of a few reasons why they wouldn’t want to bring the mom to Devildom. The number one reason is they don’t know how the mom would react. In the best-case scenario, she matures, accepts the passing of her husband, and moves on, but the human mind is unpredictable. If she hasn’t moved on, then she would think that Diavolo is actually her husband. He was human before but was brought to Devildom and became a non-human. In this case, she wouldn’t want to leave Devildom and might even convince her daughter that he is actually her father. This would add more pain to Diavolo and make things complicated for him. Luci and Barb wouldn’t want to take that risk.

Ugh, the poor mom. Mourning after her husband’s death, attempting to pick up the broken pieces and moving on, only to find someone who resembles her husband. The small hope lights in her heart that he is alive, but the hope is shattered when she is told he is not her husband. Then, having to return to the human world and wishing her husband was alive, breaking into pieces again and mourning his loss while her child continues to say, “But Diavolo is dad”…that’s not a situation anyone would want.

Prompt: When I saw the religious child MC who thought Diavolo was her dead father, I was wondering how everyone would react when she finally starts breaking down crying and blaming herself for not being a good girl? Like her logic is that if she’s not good then her dad won’t want to see her? How would Diavolo react when he finds out about Barbatos and Lucifer’s plan to separate them?

Reaction to her breaking down:

  • Can’t take this anymore. Too much drama: Mephistopheles, Thirteen
  • Sympathizes with her and blames Diavolo for not telling her the truth in the first place: Raphael, Belphie,
  • Thinks Diavolo needs to tell her the truth – for his sake and hers: Lucifer, Barbatos, Solomon, Simeon
  • This situation makes him angry. What did the child do to deserve this? Why is the universe so cruel?: Mammon, Levi
  • Wishes they had the magic to erase her memories, so she doesn’t have to suffer: Satan, Asmo
  • Doesn’t know what to say but holds her while she cries: Luke, Beel

Diavolo’s reaction:

Confused. He doesn’t know what he should do and what is right or wrong in this situation. Should he have told her the truth about him not being her father? Probably. But he didn’t think things would turn out this way. He can’t be upset with those who blame him for not telling her the truth, but do they have to be so cruel about it? He was only trying to cheer up and protect an innocent child.

Diavolo is not happy to learn that the two closest people to him are trying to separate him from the girl. Though he doesn’t get mad, he calls them for a meeting and asks for an explanation. After hearing what Lucifer and Barbatos have to say, Diavolo starts to think he really is in the wrong. Things would have not escalated to this level had he told her the truth from the beginning. He is pretty hard on himself, but Luci and Barb assure him it’s not fully his fault. The only suggestion they can give is to sit down with the girl once she calms down and explain the situation to her – she deserves at least that much.
